English 11: Periods 2&6 This class is a survey of American Literature from the colonial times through the 19th century. Students will study literature characteristics of the different eras in various genres- poetry, short stories, essays, historical documents, and novels. Vocabulary will be developed though core texts and approved SAT Development Textbooks. Students will also spend time improving grammatical skills through specific weekly lessons and applied in writing. A minimum of 3 major essays or writings will be assigned each semester. Major writing pieces will be processed pieces and must be typed MLA format. Essays will always be assigned a minimum of 2 weeks prior to the deadline.
